Epson, Canon Compatible Ink Cartridges FAQ's

Epson, Canon Compatible Ink Cartridges FAQ'sThings you should know...
  • Q: Hi Andrew, what's your opinion on compatible ink cartridges?
A: Hi Cliff, a few years ago most of the main inkjet printer manufacturers seemed to change their selling model It's now common practice to sell the printers at near cost price, and make the money on the ink. So obviously manufacturers don't want you to buy compatible cartridges from someone else, and they will probably void your warranty if you send a printer in for repair with those kinds of cartridges installed. The other side of the coin is that in my opinion, what they are forcing people to pay for ink amounts to daylight robbery in many cases. Think about it. In terms of physical quantity of ink that you buy in a cartridge - you are actually paying more for that ink than the equivalent quantity of the finest champagne in the world! And it's ink! In terms of the quality of compatible cartridges, they are variable. My advice would be to seek out a consumer reports comparison and look at their lab tests to see which ones they recommend.
